When we love something, we share it with our friends and family; like a new show on Netflix or a great restaurant in the neighborhood, we can’t help but share what we love with others. The same thing goes for our church. When we love our church, we should share it.
Sunday, February 23 at 5pm we will have a special time of prayer for the names of friends and family that have been turned in and submitted online.
On Sunday, March 16 Lakeside Baptist Church invites you to join Friend Sunday–this is a special Sunday designed to share the love and friendliness of Lakeisde with those who may be seeking a spiritual home. Whether it’s a neighbor, co-worker, or old friend, extending an invitation can open the door to deeper connections.
STEP ONE: PRAY
We will have cards available at the welcome center or you can click the button below and write the name of a person (or persons) you are praying for who need Christ. Full names aren’t a necessity. The main thing is to get people on our hearts. This is an intentional, outward focus. We will pray for each of these names during our prayer service on Sunday evening, February 23.
STEP TWO: INVITE
The number one reason people begin coming to church is because SOMEONE invited them!
Why?
Because there was a bridge of TRUST that was built over time between friends and family.
Who are the friends and family on your “trust” list who aren’t connected to a church family?
Do you know friend who are in the midst of a crisis?
Do you have a friend going through a divorce?
A friend who has lost a loved one or a job?
A friend worried about their kids, their health, where their next meal will come from?
People you know who need HOPE right now are particularly open to an invitation, because they are looking for hope in their lives.
Here are some simple ways you can invite someone to Friend Sunday:
Casual Conversation
Sometimes, the best invitations come up naturally in conversation. While chatting with friends, family, or colleagues, mention the upcoming service and how excited you are about it. Ask if they have a church they attend or if they’ve ever considered visiting one. This can lead to a meaningful discussion and an easy way to invite them without pressure.
Invitation Card:
Invite your friend with a special invitation card. These cards will be available at the Welcome Center.
Send a Personal Text Message
Reaching out with a personal message can be a heartfelt way to invite someone to church. Craft a candid text, expressing how much it would mean to you to have them join you. Highlight that it's a special aspects service that you think they might enjoy. This approach allows your friend to consider your invitation at their own pace and respond when they’re ready.
For Kids:
Plan a sleep over Saturday night:
Have a spend the night party with a catch. They have to come with you to church on Sunday. Make it fun.
