Steve Shaw was appointed as the NCAA Secretary Rules Editor for Football in 2017 and also serves as the National Coordinator of Football Officials. These selections come after working nine seasons as Coordinator of Football Officials for the Southeastern Conference including six seasons leading the Sun Belt Conference’s officials. Previously, Steve worked as an on-field
NCAA football Referee for 21 years.
As an on-field NCAA official, Steve worked fifteen seasons for the SEC and is the only “Referee” in the BCS / CFP era to work 2 National Championship games. Shaw was selected for 14 post season Bowls including 8 BCS Bowls (3 Rose Bowls, 2 Orange Bowls, 2 Fiesta Bowls 1 Sugar Bowl) and 4
SEC Championship Games.
Steve was inducted into the Alabama Sports HOF in 2020 and the Alabama Sports Officials HOF in 2021. He has received various officiating awards including the “Gaston / Dudley Spirit of Officiating Award,” the NASO Mel Narol Medallion Award and the "Rush Lester Silver Dollar Award”. Steve served four years on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO), being elected Chairperson 2011 - 2012.
Steve retired from AT&T in 2011 and he and his wife Jamelle currently live in Shoal Creek, AL and are members of Lakeside Baptist Church.
